Description
View of the famous East Quoddy Head Light the most eastern lighthouse in the USA. This painting was done off the Maine coast at high tide. Whales are often seen out on the ocean past the light house. Lighthouses in Maine and throughout the world have unique daylight markings. This one has a red cross on a white background. The rocky shore is reflected in the near ocean water. You can see the hint of a white fence on the rocky cliff suggesting a stairway leading down to the water. The fence probably guides the hiker through the pine forest to the lighthouse. The open ocean can be seen out past the lighthouse. A blue summer sky with light clouds is on the horizon. This is a part of the world where fishing is a way of life and lighthouses ,tides, wind and fog take the place of rush hour traffic.
