Description
A stormy dramatic scene off the coast of Maine. Mountains at Acadia National Park on the distant horizon seem to have better weather than what is directly over head in this scene. A rough blue green sea churning with huge waves is pounding away at the rocky cliffs in the foreground. Some of the waves are climbing right up and on top of the cliffs that are framing the left side of the painting. Over the dark forbidding cliffs are dark dramatic storm clouds dumping a lot of rain into the distant ocean. A sunlit sky opens up the scene on the right side of the painting. The mountain tops can be barely seen in the distance. A haze over the sea is blocking the view of the lower part of the mountains. In the near distance the ocean churns violently due to the approaching storm. Although the storm is dark and fierce on the left of the painting the brilliant blue sky and warm clouds on the right along with the warm colored sea seem to indicate that the storm will pass quickly. Dramatic weather is part of a "Mainers" life. The lobster men know this all to well. This painting is protected by copy right.
