Description
A sailing ship crossing the Atlantic Ocean in fair weather. This ship is in this scene alone and in full sail as it courses across the ocean waves. The ships hull is placed at the horizon line with its sails full of wind and glowing with morning light from behind. The waves in the foreground are reflecting the multicolored light from the sky. The sea is fairly calm and the water is painted in thalo blue, white, and a touch of burnt umber. Some the larger waves have white caps. There is a dark reflection under the hull of the boat. White water can be seen at the bow of the ship as it slips through the ocean waves. The top two thirds of the canvas is painted in morning sky of yellow, crimson, white, green, and blue. Darker clouds are over head while the horizon receives most of the brighter color. Two very long flags can be seen silhouetted against the bright morning sky at the top of the main and foremast. The sails are also silhouetted against the sky but letting much of the light come through the cloth. The blue Atlantic is and awesome place and the new world is at hand. This painted is copyrighted.

Great work, Lee. I have a collection of Winslow Homer paintings. It reminds me of some of his work.
