A cowboy is taking a break from work for the moment. He has hung his hat on the out house door and still hangs on to the reins while in the privy. The horse being well trained is standing patiently waiting for the unseen cowboy to finish his business. The foreground of tumbleweed is drenched in sunlight along with the horse and the outhouse. The background is a very dark shady forest of ponderosa pines and mountain ash. A large pine tree frames the left side of the scene while a mountain ash branch overhangs the horse and casts shadows on the privy. The cowboy's horse is being very patient and doing what he does best, waiting on his boss. The relationship of horse and cowboy is a very special thing. This painting is protected by copyright.

I have been an oil painter my entire life. Many of the paintings that I do are sentimental rural settings. I also like to paint landmarks and paintings that tell a story like "Surprise Visit".
