A late afternoon walk at Hartwick Pines campground just north of Grayling Michigan. We have come up here camping for almost 40 years. I can still see my kids when they were little, running ahead of us down this path, looking for mushrooms, frogs, toads, snakes and colorful leaves. The sound of them walking through the leaves is still in my head. Early in the morning you can hear woodcock drumming and coyotes calling. But there is no greater sound on earth than when your kids scream with delight when they have found something special. Those days are gone but they are forever in my mind and heart. The best memories of my life have gone down this path.
I have been an oil painter my entire life. Many of the paintings that I do are sentimental rural settings. I also like to paint landmarks and paintings that tell a story like "Surprise Visit". My paintings have won first place in a lot of competitions and many times have been sold that way. To me there is no more satisfying experience than to complete a painting and be happy with the outcome. The next best thing is to have someone buy it!
